Re-takes
Agendas!
All students beginning with 4th grade will receive an agenda the first day of school. Every student needs to bring this agenda to school everyday! It is very important because students will use it for many things: homework, vocabulary lists, spelling words, and another way for teachers and parents to communicate. Parents will know of any misbehavior during the school day through this agenda. There will be consequences for not having your agenda.
Communication
Please feel free to contact me at any time with questions or concerns. Conferences will be scheduled as needed. My phone number is 770-547-5040 and my email is [email protected]. Also, you can write a note in your child's agenda to let me know of any concerns.
Make-up Work
If your child is absent please send in an excuse within 3 days. Your child will have 3 days to make up his/her work they missed starting the day they return to school. (This goes for tests also) Students are responsible for getting their makeup work, completing it, and turning it back in.
Retake Policy
Only if a student makes below a 70 will the student be able to retake the test. Once the students retakes the test, the highest grade given will be an 80.
Grading Scale 90-100 A Homework/classwork 20%
80-89 B Quizzes 30%
75-79 C Tests 50%

Below 69 F
Homework
Homework is due the day after it is assigned. Homework will only be accepted 1 day late with 10 points deducted. After 1 day it will not be accepted.
Discipline
5th-9th Yellow Slip Policy
If a student is behaving, unprepared, or disrespectful student will receive a yellow slip (a sticky note) to fill out their misbehavior. Also, student will write it down in their agenda and teacher will initial it. This way the parent and the student will know any misbehavior during school.
Most yellow slips will deduct 1 point from their conduct grade, although some yellow slips may deduct more points if behavior is extreme. The student's homeroom teacher will keep the yellow slips and deduct points accordingly.
Attendance
Drop off begins at 7:40-8:00. Our day begins at 8:00, students are tardy at 8:01. Please see CCS handbook regarding tardies/absences. Many ELA activities are oriented and involve class interaction and participation. Therefore, it is very important your child attends every day except in case of illnesses or emergency. If your child is absent please let me know and I will get you their missed assignments. I will be glad to work with you as long as you let me know in advance. All make up work for an excused absence is to be completed within 3 days of the students returning to school. Assignments that are not returned will result in an incomplete and the student will receive a zero. Please remember 3 unexcused tardies will result in 1 absence. Please reference CCS Handbook for detailed info.
